    Strengthening Permanency Series Installment 2: Trauma-Informed Preparation & Early Support: Supporting Adoption Success Phases 1 and 2: Pre-placement and Matching

    This training is part of a phase-based permanency series, focusing on the earliest—and most critical—stages: Phase 1: Pre-Placement Preparation and Phase 2: Matching & Transition. This training is designed to summarize and provide tools to help professionals align their work with required, best, and evidence-based practices in strengthening permanency in adoption.

    Learning Objectives
    Participants will be able to:
    1. Identify and mitigate risk factors prior to placement.
    2. Explain strategies to support more stable, well-prepared, and intentional placements.
    3. Apply a clear road map for aligning policy (required), practice (best), and research (evidence-based).


    Target Audience
    Caseworkers, permanency specialists, adoption and kinship professionals, foster care supervisors, mental health providers, and agency leadership engaged in permanency planning and family support.

    Angela Mitchell, PhD

    Your instructor

    Dr. Angela Mitchell is a licensed psychologist with more than two decades of experience in psychological  assessment, clinical supervision, and workforce training for mental health and public health professionals.  She specializes in translating complex psychological concepts into clear, practical tools for practitioners,  educators, and community-based providers. Dr. Mitchell has trained hundreds of clinicians, case  managers, and early-career professionals across the nation and has delivered keynotes and professional  development sessions for organizations such as the Lubbock Department of Public Health, as well as  churches, schools, and early learning centers throughout Tarrant County. Her expertise includes trauma-informed  practice, behavioral assessment, executive functioning, and culturally responsive care. Known for her engaging, no-nonsense teaching style, Dr. Mitchell is committed to helping practitioners build
    competence, confidence, and clinical integrity in their work with diverse populations.
